Snowed in
I certainly won’t be playing golf any time soon with 2 feet of snow on the ground, but my old golf shoes make very serviceable snow shoes. They are waterproof, and the spikes provide good traction in any conditions. I should be able to get by with these until I can get to the shoe store, although I feel pretty ridiculous wearing saddle shoes casually.

Course-finding secret
When searching for potential golf courses in new locations, I focus on the following factors (in order):
Location - How close is the course to where I’m going to be?
Price - Don’t break the bank.
User reviews/ratings - Is the course well kept? Are the staff members friendly?
Difficulty - The course should be hard enough to make me think, yet reasonable enough to score well.
